Crytek has no plans for Wii U

Crytek, the developer behind such titles as Crysis 3 and Homefront 2, doesn’t have any plans to make games for the Wii U at the moment. Founder and CEO Cevat Yerli shared the update in an interview with German site Golem.

Although Crytek won’t be involved with software development, the studio’s CryEngine technology will be incorporated into projects from other companies.

Yerli said (rough translation):

“We have no plans for either system yet (Wii U and Vita). There will be Wii U games that run with the CryEngine, but they come from the licensees”

Crytek will produce games for Wii-U since they are part of EA's partner program

DeadlyFire5102d ago

Yup. Just a matter of time. Yet means we want to be impressed first, but thier engine runs rather well unoptimized so its already a likely yes to Crysis 3/4 and other projects from Crytek hitting WiiU in 2013/2014. Just let them optimize it and toy with it before we strike them down for not accepting Wii U for development just yet.

CoolBeansRus5102d ago

If they figure it will cost too much time to program for a console that is not universal(in terms of controller) or requires more time maybe they won't. They will still have three other consoles by next year!?!

donman15102d ago

Very Interesting… if you read his comments again, he is saying that there are games in development that are using their CryEngine. I hope this means CryEngine 3.4. That means there are graphically intense games being developed for the Wii U for a later release time frame.

lol, the photo! is cevat getting fatter every year?

Batzi5102d ago

I never had plans to buy any Crytek games.

Walker5102d ago (Edited 5102d ago )

Walker5102d ago (Edited 5102d ago )

dark-hollow5102d ago

Even though this was up on top for you to easily read Walker007 I've posted it here to help you.

It's hard some times, but if you look you can find all sorts of information before you post.

TheModernKamikaze5102d ago

you mean Crytek?
They can run it on Wii-U but have no plans..YET.

Andreas-Sword5101d ago

Wii U is a handheld for kids.

abzdine5102d ago

and i've no plans for Crytek :) Wii U will shine with its exclusives, not multi support FPSs (Crysis probably)

yabhero5102d ago

I love Nintendo exclusives, but I wouldn't mind some multi support FPSes

abzdine5102d ago

I buy Nintendo consoles to play the exclusive games. Crysis on Wii U i really dont care if it releases on it because it will be available on other formats and i dont play FPSs anyway !

I really want to see a Crysis 4 with all the ray-tracing & path-tracing effects. It would be a shame if they canceled the project. Maybe they could do a kickstarter?

DF
" Crysis is something of a tentpole game series for us at Digital Foundry, with a reputation for being an early adopter of graphics technologies that would later define entire generations of PC and console video games. That includes the likes of screen-space ambient occlusion, sub-surface scattering and ray-marched volumetric lighting, but you could write volumes about just how ground-breaking that first game was "

I really hope they come out and push the industry forward like they used to. I miss old crytek

PrinceOfAnger457d ago

They all look disappointed by this news especially Alex

JEECE457d ago

Pretty sad that the studio that gave us a monumental game like Crysis is now subsisting on microtransactions from a live service PVPVE game.

RaidenBlack465d ago

Why'd the day start with such sad gaming news?
Absolutely disheartening.

Jingsing465d ago

Maybe putting The Power Rangers in Hunt Showdown will get you some money back. (sarcasm)

Kassanova07465d ago

I'm always rooting for Crytek.

P_Bomb465d ago
