E3 2012: Metro: Last Light Developer Interview: “It’s a terrifying, hostile world”

OXCGN:

"THQ Australia were generous enough to offer OXCGN a chance to have an email interview with Huw Beynon, Studio Communications Lead over at 4A games developing Metro: Last Light, the sequel to Metro 2033.

Myself and Nicholas Laborde had a few questions that THQ Australia delivered. They give a great insight into the world of Metro: Last Light and the direction the sequel is being taken.
What looks certain is that the care and effort being put into this sequel is second to none."

They are definitely going in the right direction with the outdoor sections.

Not sure how it will fare against the big boys, but Metro does have a strong following.

Great interview, looking forward to this. Just hope my pc can manage it :(

I just got Metro 2033 in the mail today... played for an hour or so... pretty good so far. Those monster dog things are bullet sponges though.

Metro, while it does have a few rough spots in the gameplay, is an overall excellent example of atmosphere in gaming. No matter how stuck you may ever get, keep on - it's worth any frustration!

Yeah, I just hit my first roadblock. The character I was escorting froze, not allowing me to progress with the mission so I had to reload checkpoint. There is a lot of texture pop-in, but like you said, the atmosphere is great. Besides atmosphere, I like the gun play. The guns feel real. The revolver is possibly the most real I've seen in a game... and the lighting is good. The voice acting is pretty bad at times (horrible Russian accents... I've had several Russian teachers in computer science), it's actually pretty funny.

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco33836d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast836d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.
