What the Hitman: Absolution Trailer Really Says About Games

VGR: The trailer has been used as a springboard to launch into Feminist critiques of gaming, and while I agree that gaming has a long way to go when it comes to representing women in a fair manner, I disagree that this trailer should be the reason to soapbox about the ills of male-centric gaming culture.

It says: "This is not real" "This most likely will never happen" "This is a video game" "Enjoy"

I agree. People take stuff too seriously. I know some fans consider all the action protrayed in the trailer to be sacrilegious to the series but its just a game.

I personally see it as a natural evolution to 47's current situation. Hiding in the shadows is not always going to be an option for him anymore now that he's gonna have trained assassins after him.

take Max Payne 3 for example. It turned out pretty good.

I don't disagree with that although I do love taking the game at my own pace in the assassination situations.

I feel like they could have focused on instead doing it co-operative. I mean they are great at offering plenty of options to kill targets, co-op would open that door even more.

It could even lead to a great teacher and student storyline training his successor.

Either way I am excited to see a new Hitman so I am not complaining.

People are just blowing this out of proportions.Just getting over-sensitive.Nobody talks about it when it happens in movies.

It's Resident Evil all over again.

KILLERAPP5111d ago

Movies do this all the time and we don't see people crying over that...

God this is IO Interactives style! They have done it for every hitman game! people need to lighten up, idiots

What was wrong with the trailer? I still don't get it.

raWfodog5111d ago

A lot of people were complaining saying that it was too over-the-top for a Hitman game. I guess they felt the assassins dressed as nuns in PVC outfits was out of character for Agent 47's usual villains. Some were actually complaining about too much action in the trailer when 47 is known more for stealth kills.

How IO turned Hitman around, from Absolution to World of Assassination

When Hitman 3 recently changed its name to Hitman World of Assassination, fans had no idea how meaningful the moment was. On the outside it looked like a simple thing: Hitman 3 would now be known by this name and include levels from Hitman 2 and 3 - the trilogy would all be in one place. But on the inside, at IO Interactive, much more was going on.

You mean destroyed it with this tethered single-player campaign BS... And only the first few levels of the third modern game were on the disc! I'll never support this crap at any price-point! They've lost me as a customer.

Hitman is, and has been, a remarkable series developed by some of the best. Some are better than others, but every Hitman is challenging and fun.

Sure, there have been some stumbles and fumbles, but always in pursuit of the perfect Hitman game. The most recent trilogy is a masterclass in level design.
