CVG:ME3's ending split gamers and caused an internet storm - but what do top sci-fi writers make of it?

One of the best things about the Mas Effect series is the companions you meet along the way. So here is a tier list of all the companions from Mass Effect!
To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

Based on one narratively fitting ending in Mass Effect 3, Prothean squadmate Javik is highly unlikely to return in the next Mass Effect game.
He was one of my least favorite characters. I wish they would have done the Proths different.

Mass Effect 3 suffers from more than just a bad ending....The story/plot isn't top notch it could have been written and played out much better...uploading save files with so-called major decision seem useless since none of it really makes a difference in Mass Effect 3 only benefit is the enhanced stats you start off with early....The war asset missions are just stupid..
The ending was definitely lazy. There is sooooooooo much lore to the ME universe. And rather than getting a full blown out explanation of the whole thing, we get a "this is what we're doing, here are your 'choices' glad u played the series, bye'" type of ending.
*spoilers*
There was so much wrong with ME3, and that's not even including the ending. The biggest problm is the fact that TIM is always a villian. Working with him could have added a TON of replayability. You could choose his option at the end anyway, so why the hell wasn't that an option? He was better than the Alliance.
Add the fact that choices didn't matter, Tali's face, the citadel being the only hub apart from the Normandy (until maybe the inevitable Omega DLC), the non-existing side quests and terrible quest menu, it felt like a HUGE waste of potential.
I could have overlooked most of this and still give it a 9+, if the ending was a large scale suicide mission with tons of closure. Instead, we got the laziest ending ever. We found out that even the war assets didn't matter, and there was no closure AT ALL. You don't even know what happened at the last scene. Was it a dream, or was it real? No-one can answer that with 100% certainty.
I give ME3 a 6/10. Biggest disappointment ever, but still intense enough to make it above average.
