Wow...didn't they just lay off a whole smattering of people earlier this year or late last year?

alexcosborn5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

Oh man, I'm sure this game is going to look stunning.

vortis5100d ago

...or like a PC-port running on mid-to-high settings.

It'll take forever to be released. CONFIRMED.

ID has left me disappointed with every new release....People like to give that studio a pass because Doom/Wolfenstein...ID is left behind in the gameplay area...The Tech 5 engine wasn't even stable...Rage launched with ugly textures and everything.

vortis5100d ago

I don't know about the IDT5, I don't want to bash the engine because we don't know a lot about it.

However, RAGE was a huge disappointment and the PC version should have excelled at showing off the potential of the Tech 5 much like Battlefield 3 was a showcase for the Frostbite 2.0.

However, in a quest to garner mainstream sells, RAGE suffered from consolitis and in result, id Software took a huge hit to their technical prowess as well as their integrity to produce a high-quality game.

Eiffel5100d ago (Edited 5100d ago )

The engine did excel at one thing, draw distance.

RAGE looks pretty amazing when looking up at the sky or out in the distance, even looking down pathways of an area. Not so much up close though.

Still the best quality sky I've seen in a game to date.

I hope the devs can break away from MS and take their IP's with them in the not to distant future. This entire consolidation and mass industry firings that MS has spearheaded has been nothing but a disaster for everyone except the already rich creatively bankrupt tw@ts at Microsoft.

MS is nothing but a drain on the entire gaming industry and every facet of it.

1Victor149d ago

There is precedent already with bungie separating from Microsoft but I doubt Microsoft will let them go out with their IP’s without paying a huge price

Good for them. From what I hear Microsoft supports it but unfortunately it still doesnt change much but its a step in the right direction. More devs across the entire industry should do this. But regardless, you just love to hate anything Microsoft or xbox. Who's fault is it that sony closed down studios? Who spearheaded that? What i don't understand is that if you hate Microsoft so much why the concern. If this bothers you so much you may want to find another hobby. Free up some of that mental energy for your own well being and stop worrying about shit you cant change.

@FlaggerD care to look at yourself in the mirror, obscure? It's like your 132456th account now, and all of them have you being obsessed with Sony. You just can't handle the fact they literally stomped on Xbox, LMAO! Juggernaut my ass haha. Xbots claiming Expedition 33 winning GotY is a win for Xbox because it was on Game pass is the funniest shit ever LMAO!

Good for them. With AI coming for their jobs and their new corporate overlords working overtime to replace them, it’s a smart move.

Notellin149d ago

It won't be long before Microsoft lays off everyone in gaming and routes that money over into AI.

Time for everyone at Xbox to update the resume and start coming up with Indie game pitches.

The point of unionizing is collective bargaining. Sadly, I do not believe they have any leverage, which is likely why Microsoft isn't impeding them: The investment in AI is gargantuan. We're talking about a data center in Wisconsin that's about 200 city blocks. That is massive and insane.
