When you first play the club you may wonder how do you mix a racing style game with a 3rd person shooter? Well it involves creating massive chains (or combos) of kills from a simple blast in the groin with a pump action shotgun to a Gate crasher kill (burst through a door and proceeding to annihilate everyone in their within a matter of seconds (more on this later).
The story is that a secretive organisation exists in our daily lives (the other side of the mirror perhaps), where only the richest of the rich have right of entry. A deadly tournament of death, where the sole objective is to kill. You can play as one of eight different characters across eight different locations, from the underbelly of Venice to streets of a war zone. Within these levels are several mission types: Sprint, Siege, Time Trial, Survivor and Run the Gauntlet. For example sprint has going from A to B whilst killing hordes of mindless AI bots which try to stop you, very fleetingly if I may add. This is where the score comes in one kill fills a bar (the kill bar), another kill multiples it and so but this bar is constantly draining and requires you to make more kills throughout the level. As you progress the AI becomes a lot harder to beat with you being outnumbered a lot of the time and thus leads you to dying a lot. This however allows racking up some serious high scores which are instantly uploaded onto global leader boards.
The main single player mode is the tournament mode and this takes through each stage with a specific character, once completed you are rewarded with an outro movie (very reminiscent of the Tekken series). I won't spoil any of for you nor will I comment upon them.
There is also a single mission mode which allows you to practice any mission at your leisure. There is also a gunplay mode which allows you set out customizable mode and challenges to create your own play list of death.
Finally is the multiplayer, the set up is easy and simple and contains all classic online shooter modes death match e.t.c. There are also additions of modes from the main game such as a siege mode with one team attacking and another defending. For example the mode: team siege has one team defending the siege area for as long as they can whilst another team attacks, the attackers respawn infinitely but the defenders have only one life. Also there is the mode Hunter/Hunted where when a kill is made that persons score rises until somebody kills them once the target score is reached a winner is declared a deadly game of tag.
Overall for those looking for something different it is worth a look and with lots of replay value enjoyment may become obsession.

Zach writes: 'Do you remember a time when mobile gaming wasn’t something you had to be ashamed of, when it wasn’t plagued with microtransactions and billions of cheaply-made ‘granny horror’ and bug-filled Fortnite clones? Back in the mid to late 2000’s, most mobile games were programmed in Java, and were usually linked to bigger console releases.'.

''For every blockbuster title that garners high praise and sales, there a number of games that fly under the radar. There’s plenty of great titles that have plenty to offer but, for numerous reasons, never get the love and attention they deserve. This isn’t the definitive list of the most overlooked games; it’s merely a look at few of them.''
I'm glad Chinatown Wars is there. This is one of the best GTAs in the series. Right up there with 5 and SA. Get the DS version. You won't be disappointed. Also like to add that the wanted system in GTACTW is by far my favorite of any GTA.
I think mine would be
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom
Tastunoko V Capcom
House of the Dead Overkill
Deadly Premonition
Sam and Max
Honestly I think this last gen had a lot of overlooked titles or at least titles that didn't see the amount of sales they should have. It makes me worry for the future of the current generation.
The Club might have been a new idea , but it doesnt mean that all of those are good .
And Deadly preomonition was hardly overlooked . It's a game that had a bigger than expected and deserved success based on the weird hype "that's it so bad you gotta play it and gonna love it" (an opinion i dont share)
Really liked WWE All Stars, never got to play it online as the servers went down by the time I picked it up.

Game Informer - I played a lot of Metropolis Street Racer on my Dreamcast, and I made a point of playing anything that Bizarre Creations released from that point on. To this day, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 remains one of my desert-island games (provided the island has electricity). With The Club, the studio skillfully drew upon its racing heritage while incorporating Fur Fighters’ third-person shooting. The result was a speed-based shooting competition that played like nothing before or since.
Hell yea, it was so fun in an oldschool mentality sorta way. Some of these Cult Classics choices are bit WTF for me, but this one deserves it.
I only played the demo, but had fun with it. I do lament the loss of these arcadey type of games and I think we can do with some more of them.
Sheesh...there's quite a list of other Cult Classics on GI. I remember hearing about this game, but forgot to keep this on my radar when it released. Don't think I've even looked at any review for it.
