Berlin 1945... V2 Rockets with deadly nerve gas are ready to launch. Can you make a difference?

Developer: Rebellion, 505 Games
Genre(s): Action

Summary: Berlin 1945... V2 Rockets with deadly nerve gas are ready to launch. An army of German and Russian soldiers are in your path. Make every bullet count or the world goes down with you. X-RAY KILL CAM - see organs tear and burst, bones and teeth shatter, as your bullet penetrates your enemy. ADVANCED SNIPER SIMULATION: Allow for gravity, wind, distance, breathing and more. SNIPER'S CHOICE: leave yourself exposed with an easy shot, or opt for a more difficult but stealthier approach. CO-OP MULTIPLAYER: battle through 4 war-torn online modes

Opinion: Sniper Elite V2 was one of those games I had missed on release due to other commitments and when checking with my website members, I tended to take a negative from it, that the campaign was far too short.

Upon trying the game out, at various stages, I thought the end must be just round the corner, yet it wasn't.

I am actually a little baffled how anyone can say the campaign is too short. If played as an all creeping all prone sniper, the game lasts a good 10 hours to reach the final chapter and I loved playing every minute of it.

The graphics were acceptably good, most of the pointers were in place. If I had one issue it was likely that either they don't tell you that the D-Pad UP Down works both the binoculars and also the sniper rifle. Either that or I missed it myself, though was paying attention at the start of the game.

It was a Youtube Video that showed me the way when I got a little lost on how to blow the first tank up (as I have not played the 1st version of the game, either that or I'm thick).

Conclusion: I found it to be a well rounded game. The targetting system seems almost spot-on, the killshots were glorious in most places and I would certainly relish the next installment. Bring it on.

I enjoyed this game as well despite its flaws (crap AI and there is a noticeable cut and paste job when it comes to buildings). The Kill cam sold it for me.

xkarxfreddy5045d ago

i give this game about 6/10 as stated above crap AI, copy and paste job, CQC with was terrible and online enemy's spawn in front of you

Zha1tan5042d ago

didnt like it at all.

- Environments far to restrictive for a sniper

- telepathic AI (a sniper killer)

- stupid unrealistic level of bullet drop

Six new games arrive via Backwards Compatibility on Xbox One – Are they worth the return?

Carlos writes "2017 was a great year for the Xbox Backwards Compatibility program with many of our favourite 360 games made playable on Xbox One. That said, there are still a ton of highly requested games yet to arrive in the program and with 2018 set to see even more added, it makes sense that the first of the years new additions are now being given the treatment. This past week has seen six new games made backwards compatible, but which ones are worth returning to once more?"

"Six new games arrive via Backwards Compatibility"
Does anyone not see the funny side to this statement? I do... lol

PassNextquestion3048d ago

There's actually 6 shown, there's 3 Magic the gathering games + 3 other games.

fxa52093048d ago

Indeed... hahaha... it should be six old games coming to backwards comparability....

Get an OG Xbox then. Let the Xbox One focus on new games please.

Yohshida3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

I have one and around 100 og games, but I want to use my Elite controller and games look horrible on my tv with the og. Also streaming is easy and I have all the new features. Let Gamers focus on playing what they want and stop hating

Death3047d ago

@Unreal,

Are you saying the backwards compatibility team should make a new game? It’s silly to see people making these comments since one does not affect the other. 6 more games are now playable on Xbox One. This is a good thing especially if you are one of the rare individuals that haven’t played every single game that has been released in the past.

yomfweeee3047d ago

@Death

Every penny they spend on this is a penny they could spend on new games. Microsoft doesn't have any open checkbook for the division to waste just because the company is worth billions.

chaos-emeralds3047d ago (Edited 3047d ago )

No point, Microsoft stripped the HD modes out of the original Xbox. The games look crap on it now. The backwards compatibility for them on Xbox one is very welcome. They look amazingly crisp.

I love backwards compatibility. Lately I've been playing through the Mass Effect Trilogy, and I've also been playing Burnout Paradise, which I love. I'm hoping that they make GRAW1 backwards compatible, since I never got to play the 360 version of the game, which was the only good version made. The PC and PS2 versions of GRAW1 sucked bad.

There are many younger gamers who have never experienced many of the older games from the last two generations, so it would be great for those people to experience some of the great games of the past. Personally, despite the graphics obviously not being as good a current gen games, I think the games from last gen were much better than what we've been getting this generation by far.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great games this gen, but there was just a lot more interesting things going on last gen. As an example, EA was actually making lots of great great games last gen, but this gen things have been disappointing with them to say the least.

NoPeace_Walker3047d ago (Edited 3047d ago )

Unreal..but does the OG Xbox play Ninja Gaiden Black at native 1080p on the XB1 or native 4k like on the X? 🤔

Let the man decides for himself just like Xbox fans don't go around and tell PS4 gamers to use their PS2 to play Shadow of Colossus instead of spending $40 on the 2nd HD remake on PS4.

Yohshida3045d ago

I just love that I only need 1 box to rule them all. Get the X and play the best versions of all xbox generations of games. Its a nobrainer why people like BC

Yup, even PS4 has more games from 6th generation.

Cherchez La Ghost3048d ago

Nope! I wish they did.. I'm waiting for Dante's Inferno, Castlevania 1 & Max Payne 3 to be BC one day.

TheOttomatic913047d ago

Ya me too, I just wish MS would add 4K support for other 360 BC games besides Halo 3, Mirrors Edge, Oblivion etc.

Zerobalance3048d ago (Edited 3048d ago )

I love the Sniper elite series & V2 is a great game & as I still have my 360 copy I'm good to go. Great news & it's free for me too.

Going to pick up Far Cry 3 as I just saw that was available for BC. Not really a fan of the Xbox One but I am glad that I got one since it has some really good BC games! Playstation, please make your next console BC so I dont have to buy an xbox next gen!

PFFT3052d ago

Not gonna happen as long as they have that service PSNow.

PUBG3052d ago (Edited 3052d ago )

I love Far Cry 2. I've played it on PS3 and PC, and now I'm going to play it again on Xbox One. Even though the multiplayer for this game wasn't very polished when it released, it was actually one of the most fun games to play back then. If it hadn't gone head to head with CoD4 when it launched during that holiday season, it probably would have been much more popular. It'll be interesting to see how populated the servers will be after the BC release :)

Weeblordbad3052d ago

Far Cry 2 was an 08 game, CoD4 was an 07 game.

PUBG3052d ago

You're right, my bad. It actually went up against CoD: WaW, which was still a really tough game for Far Cry 2 to go up against, especially with the fact that WaW had just introduced Zombies.

Weeblordbad3052d ago

To be fair, the zombies mode in WaW wasn't anything special. The first zombies map was just a collection of grey rooms, it definitely wasn't the big thing by then. It certainly wasn't what killed Far Cry 2, that game had plenty of issues whether it was the fire propagation, respawning garrisons/check points, weapons jamming, UNGODLY long load times and even in 08 being a year clear from Crysis I didn't think FC2 was amazing looking even on a PC.

Not to say it's bad or that your positive feelings about the game are misplaced. I just think there are clear issues and reasons FC2 failed where FC3 succeeded.

TheOttomatic913052d ago

Excellent work by the Xbox BC team as always, would love to see more 360 BC games get the 4K treatment though.

EDKICK3048d ago

Far Cry 2 is such an underrated game.

Press Start: Sniper Elite 4 is a fun, shallow shooter

Gazette gaming columnist Jake Magee writes that “Sniper Elite 4” shone brightest when it allowed him to do what the game handles best: sniping. Unfortunately, most other gameplay fell short.
