I've always wanted to play civilization, but my PC has always been a bit on the slow side when it comes to games. Well now it is on consoles and i love it. Basically you start a civilization from the stone age, all the way to the space age.
You research new technologies, change the government, interact with your neighbors along the way. It can be quite addicting taking over cities and such, only problem is when you have like 10 to 20 cities, it can be quite annoying to have to handle every unit and choose what to build in each. whats worse is you can't pause or save during this so if your tired after playing a few hours, gotta wait it out.
I also noticed that dealing with the other nations can be quite tedious. I understand that alliances change and such, but when they want the same things over and over again for hundreds of years, it gets repetitive. also when you take something like a city or take a bunch of their forces down, they only offer peace for something in return, not the other way around tho.
I would have liked George Washington as an American figure better, but Abe Lincoln is cool too. Aside from stuff like that though the game is great and a whole lot of fun, i highly recommend this one. any of the nit-picky points are far exceeded by the fun of building up a civilization.
The achievements seem to be on the easier side too, winning with each civilization, and for each type of victory Domination, Technology, Cultural, and Economic. The rest seem a bit harder but not too bad.

Dorkly: "History is written by the winners, and that applies to games, too. While we hold up our post-apocalyptic wasteland adventures, period piece assassinations and Liberty City crime sprees on a pedestal, we would do well to remember the little guys. These underseen, criminally underplayed games didn't do well critically or commercially, but they were still wonderful experiences. Here's a small list of recommendations of unsung heroes of the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era."
Alpha Protocol has some fantastic ideas in its conversation and story progression due to choices. I really enjoyed my time with it.
A spy rpg can be done with amazing results if handled correctly.
God Hand
Partly because I just recently discovered it and its insane.
What a gold nugget.

XMNR: 2K Games and Firaxis Games officially unveiled “Civilization: Beyond Earth” at a PAX East, which ended Sunday. The storied franchise heads for the stars for the second time in its twenty-three year history but the history of Sid Meier’s just-one-more-turn creation is as interesting as the games themselves.

March was a good month for bagging yourself a bargain! Hopefully we'll be able to find a few more good deals this month too. Here are a few of the bargains that FantasyMeister managed to bag himself in the month just gone.
I've played a full game each day since Friday...so I've already clocked in about 16 hours.
Having so many cities to direct can be very annoying. Especially when you capture a city...you still basically have to build it up from scratch. However near the end of the game I usually have 3-4 "power cities" which can all produce anything quickly, and in an emergency this is awesome to have.
Dealing with other nations is also much more annoying than it should be. I hate how you can't really threaten them or anything, but they can come to you whenever they want and demand anything. I wish there were more alternatives instead of: Pay X amount of gold, or share X technology.
I've played as the English, Aztec, Zulu and Russian...but not the Americans yet. I would have liked more variety with the different nations. All the titles and names are all pretty much the same so there's zero learning curve when playing a new civ.
I still haven't played past the easiest difficulty, or played any multiplayer, but I'm loving it so far :D Good review.
1) Yes, you can save your game at virtually any point so I don't why you feel you can't.
2)It's not an RTS (real time strategy), it's a TBS (turn based strategy)
There were one or two other things that weren't accurate in the review but these are the two that stuck out for me.
