User Review : Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution

Ups
  • Gameplay is fun fun fun...{Lasting appeal and depth are great...{Many ways to play from Co-op to head to head... and lots of add-ons
Downs
  • Not enought of my friends have it, they're missing out or went with the PC game.

The dawn of a Civilization is a powerful thing.

Civilization Revolution for the PS3 is a Stellar game. I have been a Civ fan for a long time and to tell you the truth, I was worried about how this game would turn out because most PC games like Civilization just don't work out on the consoles.

Thankfully, this is not true for Civilization Revolution. This game takes everything that was good in the PC series and makes it work so damn good. They also took a look at everything that was long and drawn out in the PC series and they made it work smarter and faster, adding some automation so that the game flow, which is a huge thing in this game, is done at a great speed, keeping the gamer intent on their game play. The fun just keeps rolling out.

There are many different modes in the game as well, including Head to head over PSN or against CPU either one is really good and challenging. Gameplay over the PSN against others is sped up with many options to suit your needs.

Also Co-op is a lot of fun, you can play against your friend or you can work together to beat on the CPU or other feeble rulers that think they can rule the world.

The Sound is done well and the music is not just the same thing repeating over and over again, there is a good mix while you go through the ages.

For a game that has generated a huge following on the PC this console version or compact version of the series has made inroads that will build a new following and new followers that will be here, I hope, for a long, long time.

This is a game that any strategy gamer will enjoy.

Graphics
Gameplay is always a sticking point with me because if a game sucks this is where you see it first and there is nothing that can save the final review score of a game if it does not play well. This game does it excellent! It takes all the good parts from the PC version and makes it work so well.
9.0
Sound
They are bright and the Animations do a good job of keeping your attention. This game looks really good and it works so well on the tv.

Online
They get high marks for all the different ways and speeds of game control. They learned from the PC what works and what does not and took that knowledge and made it work so good online.

This game saved my ass when my internet was out for two weeks.
Almost every game i play is played online but, i ended up playing the single player for like 6 days straight! Got hooked on it.

Lots of fun & replay value.

Though I do prefer the PC Civ games, this one was a lot of fun. Not a bad buy at all if you don't have a decent gaming PC.

5 Criminally Underplayed Games That Need More Love

Dorkly: "History is written by the winners, and that applies to games, too. While we hold up our post-apocalyptic wasteland adventures, period piece assassinations and Liberty City crime sprees on a pedestal, we would do well to remember the little guys. These underseen, criminally underplayed games didn't do well critically or commercially, but they were still wonderful experiences. Here's a small list of recommendations of unsung heroes of the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era."

Alpha Protocol had so much potential. I'd really like to see another spy rpg.

Alpha Protocol has some fantastic ideas in its conversation and story progression due to choices. I really enjoyed my time with it.

A spy rpg can be done with amazing results if handled correctly.

I would add 007: Bloodstone to the list. That game was criminally underrated.

WizzroSupreme4030d ago

Okami, Beyond Good and Evil, Chibi-Robo!, and Pikmin should be among these.

'Civilization': A brief history of just one more turn

XMNR: 2K Games and Firaxis Games officially unveiled “Civilization: Beyond Earth” at a PAX East, which ended Sunday. The storied franchise heads for the stars for the second time in its twenty-three year history but the history of Sid Meier’s just-one-more-turn creation is as interesting as the games themselves.

Teach your kids with video games

Sim City is an obvious choice, but what other games can be used to teach youngsters - and oldsters - useful skills and interesting facts?
