Remember the original Metroid Prime? Now skip a generation and we get my review of Metroid Prime 3

Metroid Prime 3 is the end of the Metroid Prime Trilogy. The game is set 6 months after Metroid Prime 2. Unlike the past Metroid Prime games, you don't lose all your weapons and have to start out looking for items. You begin the game with the Power Boots, Scan Visor, and you find the Grappling Hook early on. New weapons and upgrades are found throughout the game. This makes this approach different. This is where the game is better than the last two.

The game is much more different. The levels are more unique than the previous games. The first two parts of the game are war levels where you are fighting with GF Marines. The game is set on several different planets where you can travel around in the game freely. There are 7 places (5 planets, 2 spaceships) and the world is filled with exploring. The Wii controls are AWESOME!!!! They are so smooth and fluid. The game is fun when you shake the controller around. That is fun by itself which proves this is a great game. One new feature is the fact that every character except Samus can talk now!!!! That is a great feature. The game is also very long to play. It took me a year to beat.

The graphics in the game are great. There are some blurry textures though, but overall they are good. The sound is amazing. The ships landing and fighting as well as the music are going to make you hum that for the next year or two. The cutscenes in the game never extend past the 5 minute mark.

The game has no multiplayer mode (sad, especially how they could have upgraded Metroid Prime 2's and take it online). The game is connected to WiiConnect24 and you can use this to send friends who have the game data. Unfortunently, I don't have friends with this game so I don't know how that works. There are lots of bonus content in the game (Mii Bobblehead, which you need friends who have the game to unlock). There are lots of hidden easter eggs and just stuff you will never find (I completed with 71%). The game controls good and is fun to play. If you own a Wii and like FPS games, but don't have this, I don't know what to say to you. Let's end the Prime Trilogy in peace. This game is great.

Score
9.8
Graphics
Best Wii FPS (and only Wii FPS) controls ever. They are solid, very solid.
8.2
Sound
These graphics are great...for the Wii. A few blurry textures never stopped this game. The world is beautiful in design.

Gameplay
If you don't feel any emotion from the music and overall sound in this game, something is wrong with you.
8.9

This game is a blast to play. This game is AMAZING!!!!!!!

But everyone else talking was abit of a disappointment and the game didnt have that loneness that the other games had and it just didnt have quite the atmosphere that the previous ones did and i blame all this on Nintendo and their new "Gaming Direction" but still a great game it was the main reason why i bought the Wii lol i love metroid have every single one and like 2 verson of super metroid the PAl and the Japanise versons lol

I've just started going through again to get 100%(I'm at 85% completed now)and unlike some Metroid fans honestly feel it's the best of the Prime games(I don't compare Prime and original Metroid games as they're that different).
I'm lookiong forward to seeing how the Play onWii versions of Prime and Echoes(same disc!!)turn out and someone was saying they might well put in an online multiplayer (a la Hunters) with that.AS the controls were so spot on I'm wondering how(if the remakes support it)Motion Plus might improve them further-hopefully they'll get even better and finally approach the level of keyboard and mouse players on PC.
Always nice to se someone into Samus' adventures and enjoying them like I do. Metroid fans are a picky bunch and I've seen MP3 ripped apart for a few things but for me it takes the template of the first two games and added more variety to it without losing what makes it special as a series.
Funnily enough I never got round to doing the friend voucher/sticker stuff either cos all my mates were really into COD4 at the time(great game I know but they obsessed on it way more than I did)so I'd finished by the time they started MP3.
Great game though and only the lack of any multiplayer stops it being the best Wii game ever(toss up for me betwen Okami and NMH and Zack and Wiki)-FPS games(I realise it's more than that but y'know)need one these days.

I honestly hated Prime and Prime 2: Echoes. Both of them were so full of unlocking doors that I just didn't care when I got to the bosses...ya know?

LeonSKennedy4Life6346d ago

I'd give it the same dude. I would've given it a 10 for graphics though. I thought the worlds were beautiful for a Wii game...and I play Crysis every day.

The only reason I'd count off is because it's extremely hard to figure out where you're going.

I really liked this game. The controls are just so smooth!

Then there is Microsoft's approach which is just to piss in the wind and 95% of their stuff turns out bad. Developers might like that personally but you'll be out of a job quicker than you know it through badly shipped products.

First party Nintendo titles are held to a specific standard for a reason. It could be argued that both Sony and MS could benefit from doing the same, but you are right with MS nonchalant approach and "it scored well internally" and then putting out something like Redfall. Even Halo, MS' flagship series, wasn't overseen with the fine tooth comb to ensure it was top notch quality.

Nintendo first party games are very rarely duds, let alone non functional ones. You don't get that without a little (or a lot) of micromanaging. Is it annoying? No doubt. Their track record speaks for itself though and you can't deny that.

I think there is good evidence for both sides of that argument, really.

Japan Studio didn't have much oversight and that studio produced pure magic. Financially, it wasn't a cash cow studio, but I sense that anyone who played their games really felt the care and passion for their creation at work. Media Molecule is another one. I personally feel that Sony and Microsoft micromanagement tends to be overly negative. It might work for Nintendo because they're big on making a fun and engaging game first and entice people that way.

Sony as of late and Microsoft for at least two generations now, when they get into the micromanagement, it seems like a profoundly anxious experience.

i dunno if i agree with that.

i think some leeway is necessary to achieve atleast some sort of spectacle.

Ranking the Metroid Games from Worst to Best

From Xfire: "Is Super Metroid still as super as it once was in 1994? If not, which Metroid game is better than the influential title?"

Highrevz1802d ago

I look forward to the day any game beats that Super, Metroid or not.
Hollow Knight come damn near close to knocking Super Metroid from the top of my list, that’s a huge achievement for such a small team.

The problem for me is I’ve been waiting for a 2D Metroid that beats Super but I don’t think I’ll ever see that day. I still play the original 1-2 times a year and a few randomiser plays.

Fully agree with the list and all points it makes for each game. I’m expecting Dread to fit in the middle of that list but I’m happy to be wrong about that.

In my opinion Other M is better than Federation Force
