Mass Effect 2 a new era of gaming on ps3?

First, I am going to say that English isn't even my second language, so go easy on me.

Well, what can I say?
The game is just the first WRPG that I related to the very moment I played it.
I'm a fan of EA and when they released DA:Origins of Bioware I didn't hesitate to buy it and enjoy the thing, only to feel disappointed after 40 minutes of playing.

But me and DA:Origins is a different story, and i learned to appreciate it after a second try.

But Mass Effect 2, no, it was a whole different thing, I liked many things right away after playing the demo on my Ps3.
For the very first, the Commander Shepard talked for real, and I still could choose his words and his look and everything about him (although I didn't change his appearance he was a well designed character already)
And the fact that all the characters that you could talk to would really talk.
I hated to read through long texts of conversation or choosing my characters words only to find out he isn't going talk, instead the dude next to him would read his mind.

Other thing was the A.I. it definitely isn't a very easy game.
And your enemies will do all they can to take you down, in fact you might see them change their tactics many times, just to catch you.

Another nice thing is the Universe, it is BIG.
but it is sad that you can't land on all the planets.
but I enjoy to fly around with Normandy and check the space.

I didn't understand how could Bioware let such a great experience have a lack of good music.
personally it was the very first game that was not Fighter or Racing that I wanted to listen to my own music.
The Collectors ship fight for the example, I just felt like the music is a joke, it was too serious for the hell that I was going through.

Something I enjoyed every now and then was the design of environment, in some levels I would just stand the and look at the level design.
I mean, Mass Effect 2 is no Uncharted or Gow3 when it comes to graphics, in fact the graphics isn't very good, but every now and then you would see something like the crash site of Normandy that would make you just sit and watch around and admire the beauty of the planet, even though a tragic scene is being played.
But suddenly bam, you look on the ground and guess what?
The snow is like a ceramic ground or something.
Shepard is either a ghost or something is wrong with the snow and the planet.
Where are the foot prints Bioware?
Even Tekken 6 had them!

Anyhow, again, this probably impossible scene of battle on top of a huge space ship flying through a thunder storm would make you forget everything about the snow.

Another thing that bugged me was the Cutscenes, The sound of gun fires and effects are not synced to what is happening on the screen, I don't know if it is something that only hunts Ps3 version, or is it only my game.
But it is there and annoying, however, the voice acting is synched and no problem with that, but other things are not synched.

And then we get to the story.
Mass Effect 2 was like Dead Rising 2, a previous Xbox 360 and Pc title, so the Ps3 only users would not be able to play them.
But, Mass Effect's story was explained very well in the beginning of Mass Effect 2, all was explained and even afterward during the game you would be able to investigate through the events of first game.
But, after all, the story of Mass Effect 2 is important and I must again say, it doesn't have a story that would make you go wow.
It has a decent story with it's up and downs.
And kind of predictable, but still fun, you want to go through the story even though you have an idea of what will happen next.
And side quests are pretty fun and challenging not like some games that they are just there, for nothing, just for wasting time.
No, they make sense and change your experience of the game.
In overall I am very glad for arrival of Mass Effect series to Ps3 and enjoy playing it on my DS3 instead of keyboard and mouse, but can't help it to think Mass Effect 2 was a little bit overhyped, but still, totally worth it, and I recommend my fellow gamers, on Xbox, pc or Ps3 that do not lose the opportunity of playing this great game.

The sound is worked pretty ok. the 5.5 goes to voice acting and fire shot sounds and things like this. but music gets no point from me

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine493d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast493d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman493d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast493d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave741d ago (Edited 741d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
