What can I say about this game. This truly is one of the most beautiful games out there.
You play as the gorgeous Nariko who is gifted with amazing martial art techniques passed on to her from her father. You are blessed with the Heavenly Sword which gives Nariko amazing powers but is also killing her at the same time. You have to save your father and your village from the ruthless King Bohan who is trying to overtake your village and grab hold of the powerful Heavenly Sword that you posess for his own power and his personal collection.
You have 3 technique styles in which you play with. There's the Ranged stance in which you weild your sword with chains(aka. God of War), the power stance, and the speed stance. They tend to work really well and finding the right technique for the right enemy is pretty easy to figure out. Once you get the hang of it, you can come across some pretty cool finishing style moves. One of them being which you break an enemies neck by tossing him in the air and snapping his neck with your legs. The others you'll just have to figure out on your own.
There are small puzzle sequences in the game in which people tend to think remind them of God of War and well they are somewhat correct too.
From the button motion sequence to the small miniature puzzles scattered throughout the game, which can get a little boring and not to thought out from the developers. Most of them require throwing an object at a big gong symbol to open a doorway.
There are motion sensing controls also added to the game. The puzzles utilize them which I explained already, but also when you get to use Nariko's strange sidekick Kai. She only shoots arrows, but the motion controls when you use her arrows are pretty spot on and add a different dimension to the game.
All in all this is a fairly good game for a 1st year exclusive to the PS3. It probably has the best cut scenes out there and definitely the best motion capture to date of any game put out so far. For a 3 part series there are a few things that could be tightened up for the next sequal. i look forward to see what Ninja Theory has in store for us next.

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Grab your katana, and slice your way through this list featuring the best hack and slash games the PlayStation 3 had to offer.
Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.
heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.
I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
Very good ups and downs.
In the end, I feel the game just came up a bit short in every department. From story and combat, All solid but nothing amazing either.
It was unlucky also, I had hoped the game would end up close to the level of God of War and Devil May Cry, but it didn't reach even close to that critical mass. Sometimes that's just how it goes. You can't control it, just try again.
