Remember in 1997 when GoldenEye 007 was developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64 and it was extremely good both in sales and in critical response. Those same guys who made the game formed a company known as Free Radical Design, and they developed some great first person shooters like TimeSplitters. Jump forward to 2006 when they announced "Haze" a first-person shooter to be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. It eventually became a PS3 exclusive and was hyped. Everyone was excited. But they got something they didn't expect. Here is Haze on the PS3. I rented this game out of curiosity when my brother visited for Christmas and brought his PS3.
Haze is set in the year 2048. In the Boa regions in South America there is a war between the PMC Mantel Global Industries, and the Promis Hand, a group of rebels. Mantel soldiers use a special drug called Nectar to enhance their speed, strength, agility, and overall performance. The drug is also used to manipulate them into doing Mantel's dirty work. I enjoyed the story myself and thought that it was a great sci-fi plot. I didn't enjoy most other parts of the game though. You play as Shane Carpenter, a rookie Mantel soldier who in the middle of the game joins the Promise Hand.
The controls in Haze are well done and feel right. The L2 button injects Nectar into your body. You can do this 6 times. You shouldn't overload the Nectar, as this causes a Bloodstream Abnormality. Heading into the game, you began to get Nectar Disruptions which can disrupt gameplay and last several minutes. The weapons are simple. The Mantel and the Promise Hand each have their own weapons, all of which can be clone weapons of each other. The weapons are cool to look at, and do their job. The driving sequences in the game are as enjoyable and amazing as watching a baby eat string cheese. They are terrible, and do to parts of the game requiring driving these parts are almost impossible. It is like trying to drive in a terribly designed car with two steering wheels being shot at by people. The driving is slippery. And if a car is shot too much it will explode like a time bomb. The A.I won't even drive for you. If you get out of the vehicle, they will just get out and stand there. If a vehicle gets stuck in a random position, you can't melee it out to use it. They won't trade places or anything. This is the gameplay. It sucks. The level design is awkward and confusing. There are some areas where you would need a flashlight, but there is no flashlight mode. That makes playing through the game confusing. It took me 20 minutes to find the switch. Oh and in order to do special commands, you have to just tap the button for less than one second. If you want to get inside a vehicle you have to tap the Square button like a mouse key instead of holding it. That is really awkward.
The graphics in the single player looks alright. The multiplayer graphics suck. I know that graphics in multiplayer won't look as good as single player, but usually that is a unnoticable aspect. The graphics are much worse in multiplayer mode and this is very noticable.
The presentation in the game is just unusual. The Mantel troopers in the single-player act like complete idiots. The A.I in the game are average. They will kill whatever they see. They won't drive vehicles though and they work best when on the ground. The game requires a 5-15 minute installation time and it will always check for updates. If a update is availible it will take another 7 minutes to install. This takes the time out of the game. If you are impatient, this game will suck for you. I am glad I rented this game out of curiosity.

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When shopping for new video games you can often trust the name publisher or developer on the box to be an indication of the quality of the game. Names like Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom, Xbox Game Studios and Sega are world famous because they helped shape the industry by releasing some of the most defining video games of all time. Though sometimes even these great gaming houses stumble and put out a stinker."
Splatterhouse remake . Loved the og’s at the arcade growing up . Hell the best thing about the remake was the og,s were included . And left alive by Square . That game had so much potential , but the gameplay was worse horrendous .
I'm pretty much certain that any Sonic game that comes out will be terrible, I've not enjoyed one since the original side-scrolling days of the MegaDrive.

Guns, drugs, and unnecessary war. Fun for the whole family.
