Fire Emblem is a Strategy RPG from Intelligent System who is also behind making Advance Wars and Paper Mario. I know name dropping but knowledge is power as they say. It helps with these type of games as well as it get you to bring your foes down in a cleanly matter.
The war is over and your side lost. The soldiers who did win are terrorizing the town folk along with searching for the white hair maiden. Just so happens that she's part of your crew and we're going fighting the good fight.
Combat is grid based and each character can move so many units and attack when enemies are in the red zone. Sword, Ax, Dagger are some of the attack moves while bow and lance can be ranged attacks, but lets not forget about magic which you use with Tombs.
Your items are stacked and are needed to attack your enemy so stock up! Using your different abilities with all your characters are keys to winning a fight say a ranged attack to soften them up followed by an ax wielder to finish them off. You even have people that change into animals which greatly improves their power.
Having a character dies means they are gone forever. Makes for another challenge no one wants to deal with in a game, but makes for a want to improve ones skills so to avoid. You can have many units to control at a time which makes for a long battle and you have to plan your move for effectiveness.
No motion controls are present in this title which is okay. You can use just the Wii Remote or even bust out the classic controller you may have laying about. The story is robust and good entry with the name Fire Emblem.
