After a long wait, PC players can now play the anticipated PC version of Fable III, after being denied from Fable II, Fable III comes to fill the emptiness, was it worth the wait?
You take the role of the King's brother, simply called the prince (Hero later).
Fable 3 has a funny way to interact with characters, you can't speak with them in a real dialog like other RPGs, instead you're offered to do some jesters (shake hands, whistle, dance, or even do some negative moves).
The game has lots of funny moments, but you will find out that it has its serious moments, and sometimes sad and tough moments.
The moment you start the game, you will be taken by its charm, the graphics are improved compared to the X360 version, it still doesn't compete to other beautiful games, but exploring the game's different locations just for its visuals is really worth the efforts sometimes.
Fighting takes a great part here, as you will spend most of the time doing so, you can fight your enemies with melee weapons, magic and even fire weapons, fighting consist on pressing the left mouse button to attack (or cast a spell) or right mouse button for special moves (defending in melee weapons, aiming in fire weapons, casting a secondary spell) . Too bad you can't use melee weapons at the same time with magic, also a combo system would have been a good idea to increase the fun factor, magic consists on casting several spells that can damage or stun you enemies, first you can use only one magic, but later on, you can upgrade the magic skill so you can use two spells at a tim. You will also realize that the ranged weapons just do not fit well here, the aiming system is weak and buggy, and the shooting mechanism is boring and repetitive.
Enemies are not varied like other RPG games, so will spend lots of time pressing the same mouse button and killing the same enemy types.
Your permanent companion "dog" (or whatever you'll name it) has a simple role in the game, finding treasures and dig sites, finishing enemies off, you can find or even buy books to teach it new moves, also you can pet it, unfortunately you won't feel a great bound between the hero and his dog. Also you can not heal it because it never takes any damage.
Your two permanent friends in the game are Jasper and Sir Walter, Jasper is the funniest character in the game and also a coward, but you will always want to visit the sanctuary to listen to him talking or even criticize your outfit, Sir Walter in the other hand, is the war hero, he's serious but in a funny way.
As you explore more places, you will find out that searching is very important factor in the game, other than digging and finding treasures, you can just search a book stand in a library.
The voice acting brings Fable III to life with its various characters that will make you laugh all the way to the finish, even if the game's characters are easy forgettable, the great voice acting and the right accent will always make them fun to watch and to listen to.
Being evil in Fable III does seems impossible sometimes, even if you can do some evil deeds, you are being the good guy at the end of the day, you have to defeat your evil brother after all. Also the game lacks choices, though there are some moments in the game that you have to choose between two things to be able to continue, but that hardly makes any changes on the game itself.
You can get back to your sanctuary at any time, by simply pressing the Escape key on your keyboard, visiting the sanctuary is necessary to change your outfit, your weapons, and your spells, open presents, view your map, interact with friends and even change the game's settings.
In addition to the main quests, you can help people by simply visiting the map in the sanctuary, that way you'll have more followers to be able to defeat the king.
This technique used here is very helpful indeed to find quests quickly and earn more guild seals, unfortunately that will limit your exploration of the game's world, cause what's a role playing game without exploration right?
You'll also find permanent mini quests like pie making or even playing music, and you can earn good gold with them, "easy money", but that'll feel repetitive after a while, and you'll do it only if you want to earn money pretty quickly.
You can befriends with people, first by reacting with them using several actions, including whistling, hero posing and shaking hands, those moves could look silly but they're humorous, after performing some of the actions, you have to complete quests for them, then, you'll have plenty of friends.
Now the advantage for having friends is gifts, and who doesn't love gifts?
Accept gifts from friends and you can open them in your sanctuary.
Not just that, met a female friend? Complete more quests for her, and she'll fall in love with you, that way, you can marry her, and have a big happy family.
Defeating enemies, reacting with people and completing quests will grant you Guild seals. Those are the same as XP points in any role playing games.
You can spend the guild seals to upgrade your weapons, you magic and to unlock several social abilities like whistling, hero posing, kissing, marriage, etc… all those upgrades can be done only if you visit the "land to rule" a transition between the two worlds.
This technique feels unique but it does not give the player the satisfaction that any good RPG does when upgrading the hero's skills.
You can also buy houses, shops and other locations; don't want to live in your newly purchased house? OK, easy, just rent it.
Fable III is a funny game all the way to the end, with its beautiful graphics, great music score and the good voice acting you will love this fairy tale, but a simple and easy combat, the lack of real dialogue and a different XP system will keep lots of RPG veterans away from it, others will find it an enjoyable experience full of charms and laughs.

Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.
I'd love to play it again, this time on pc though. Forever waiting on that pc port.
Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.
Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.
I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh
