Evony, (www.evony.com), is a strategy game based in medieval times. The game plays in real-time so whether you are logged in or not, the game still plays. The game is completely web-based and doesn't require any download. It can be played from any computer just by logging in to your account. The best part is the game is absolutely free to play. No one-time or monthly charges ever. Evony is one of the fastest growing games on the web today.
The game play seems really complicated when you first start but it is actually quite simple once you get the basics down. I definitely recommend joining an alliance. It's not required by any means but it is very helpful. More experienced players can help you out with strategy, questions and tips as well as provide support in the event you fall under attack or need supplies. Going it alone is tough.
When you start the game, you have one city. At the beginning, you are under Beginner Protection. This lasts for 7 days or until you upgrade your Town Hall to Level 5, whichever comes first. You build your starting city's buildings and resource fields from the ground up. The possible layouts for your city are pretty much limitless. Only the Town Hall is already placed when a city starts. The placement of the rest of the buildings is entirely up to you. Certain buildings you can only have one of in each city, like the Town Hall and Embassy. Other buildings you can have multiples of, like Cottages and Warehouses. You can have multiple resource fields as well. I would recommend building a little more sawmills than anything else though. You use a lot of lumber in the game for buildings as well as traps and such on the walls. All of your buildings and resource fields can be upgraded to higher levels.
The game has a great number of Quests for a player to fulfill by meeting given requirements. Each quest you complete gives you certain rewards like lumber or gold. The larger the quest you fulfill, the larger the reward. You can also start more cities. Each time you increase in Title (by fulfilling the quest), you have the opportunity to obtain another building spot, known in game as a flat, to start another city. You can have up to 10 cities.
So, go ahead and give Evony a shot. You really have nothing to lose and quite a few friends to gain. See you in the game.
