I'm a dynasty warriors fan

It's interesting to see such a disparity between gamers who enjoy this genre to begin with and the opinions of those who don't share the same appreciation for such games (Meta vs gamers). I don't think critics (meta) are a good measure of what games are good and fail to give ratings based on how the fan base will receive their games. I think this needs to change because it is misleading to the public. If you like dynasty warriors, RPG's, drakengaard, and games as such, I'd try this one out, you most likely will not be disappointed.

There are many characters with which to experience the beautiful story of the three kingdoms and see where events could've turned out from the perspective of modern day writers. The game play is fun and at times challenging. The leveling system is a boon for an RPG fan as myself; I like to know that my efforts pay off with power up bonuses that the XP provides. The artwork is awesome, especially if you are into that quasi Chinese character design with a tinge of Japanese anime.

My only quirk with this game is the music. Why is it when you have an emotional and breathtaking score for games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4, 5, 6, with gorgeous orchestral elements, or riveting and heart racing battle scores like those in Kessen and Drakengaard, that you'd think to replace that formula with Heavy Metal Chinese Rock Hybrid music? As a Dynasty Warriors fan, I would prefer the guy who did the score to Drakengaard, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4, Yuzo Koshiro, or even let Masashi Hamauzu try his shot at it! I think the music used up till now simply feels out of place. Don't get me wrong, I feel that there are 2 good pieces in the game, but please, get a new composer. It could be much much better.

Sound
I like the art style and costume design with lush fantasy backgrounds.

Gameplay
No more heavy metal, Bring back the orchestra! Mix it with heavy metal instruments if you really need to but I want French horns and traditional Chinese woodwind instruments, not electric guitar riffs and power chords with dated percussion rhythms!

Dynasty Warriors 6, A look back on a controversial period of the Musou games

Dynasty Warriors 6 was a controversial game that took the Warriors series in a much needed new direction. Can Dynasty Warriors 9 do the same?

DW9 came out a few years ago and was not met with kindness. You mean 10. DW6 was not a good direction at all but DW6Empires was alright by me.

What i remember from DW6 was alot of characters who had unique weapons in the previous games ended up with either a spear, sword or bow. Some that come to mind was the guy with the claw like Vega from street fighter, the guy with tonfas, the guy with the samurai sword and the chick with the bladed rings, all cool weapons changed to generic sword, bow or spear.

The spinoff strikeforce was pretty cool.

Dynasty Warriors Series Turns 15

The Dynasty Warriors series has turned 15 years-old. And Koei Tecmo is celebrating with the release of a special trailer.

Thanks Koei and Omega Force for this entertaining series.

Cool. Looking forward to DW9.

DasTier3939d ago

Such a shame the series is so much worse now than it was back in its 4/5th iterations.

Thank you Tecmo Koei. I love Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors and Sengoku Basara.

What I'd Love See From A Next-Gen Warriors Title

Mike from Awesome Games writes: 'I am, and always have been, a huge fan of Tecmo Koei’s Warriors franchise. But I think it’s time to say that I’m sick of developer Omega Force’s “If it aint’ broke…” attitude towards what is one of my all-time favourite video game series. Because, although I’m still enjoying them, I am losing interest slightly with each sequel – and that saddens me. Therefore, I would like to make some suggestions as to how I think a next-gen warriors title could greatly improve upon Tecmo Koei’s current offerings. For the purposes of this article, I’ll be using the Dynasty Warriors series as my proverbial punch-bag, as it is TK’s flagship Warriors series and I feel all of my arguments apply to it. But don’t worry; most of my arguments apply to the other variations as well.'
