So I finished beating Devil May Cry 4 a few hours ago and i gotta say the game is awesome. The game play is just solid. You can upgrade your abilities and your sword techniques through out the game, and I'm gonna tell you right now, you really should upgrade. It would be very hard to pass the game without upgrading. I would say the length of the game has to be around 10 to 14 hours depending on your skill level. In the game you play as Nero, a new character to the series who is also bad ass thanks to that demon hand of his which can do some pretty heavy damage. When you reach the middle of the game, you play as Dante, the true bad ass devil hunter. althought you dont beat the game with Dante which was the downer, but its all good. It was a good game, damn good game. Now I gotta talk about a few things that bugged me in the game. Yeah not every game is perfect. I can see why people gave it an average to a below average review. There were 20 missions in the game. Now I didn't have a problem with the amount of missions, I think 20 is plenty. What I'm trying to say is that in most of the missions you were in the same place over and over again. There were only like 3 or 4 areas where you were at the entire game. Some of the enemies were also annoying. Like the ones with the armor and their stupid shields, and those flying scare crows, god I hate them. Other than that the game is sick. I think im gonna play it a few more times on the harder modes. Thats how much fun I had with it. Im proud to say that I have it for PS3. That is the console you should have it for, not that other console. If you are a PS3 owner, you should buy this game. My final score, I give it a
9/10

5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.
I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.
Devil May Cry 4 launched 15 years ago today, bringing with it new character Nero. Has it stood the test of time?

Cheap Capcom design of half a game that you have to walk through twice.
5 isn't much different in that department. Encounter the same boss three times with three different characters? Endless warehouses or alien-like tunnels that all look the same.
In DMC 5, it's 4 times you encounter the same bosses if you count the Vergil dlc lol

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.
I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.
I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.
Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.
Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.
Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?
I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.
heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.
I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
