Only through about 7 missions.

My favorite action game is NG so needlessly I compare this game to that one, I know that they are different but they are alot alike. Would I consider this better than NG, IMO no I wouldn't. So I say all of this as being a big NG fan. This is the first DMC game I have ever owned and really ever played, because I played DMC3 just a little. Anyways, like I said I have only made it through 7 missions and up to this point, it is lots of fun. I personally don't like button mashers, God of War being the exception really just because it was just so cool, but this game isn't exactly a button masher, but it is no NG. For one I hate there is no block button, I guess Dante has a block feature but Nero does not. So I hate that I can't block. But for everytime that you can't block, you can pull off some spectacular moves. The camera in the game isn't normally a problem, except when you are fighting the creatures that can go through walls. Really those are my only gripes with the game. The game itself is amazingly fun and very addictive. Once you get the controls down you really can do some insane combos and I really like the grading aspect. I don't play anygame on easy level when I first start and nor do I put and helping feature on, as in automatic in this game. The combos for the most part are basiclly easy to pull off as they are just the same button just in a timely mannor. Visually the game is very beautiful I don't really see anything wrong with it, I have read in some reviews that the shadows are bad. I guess if you are looking for saomething to nitpick about you say that, but seriously, how often are you playing a game and are like, "man these shadows in this high action game sure are bad?" Me? Never. I got this game for the PS3 because it was developed for the PS3 first, and I heard that the load times were basically non exsistant. Well, there are load times during the game that are a few seconds, and they are fine and all at first but after a while it just get annoying, now maybe this wouldn't be as annoying if you didn't have to wait 20 minutes at the start of the game for it to load, who knows? All and all I was very impressed and I would say for anyone on the fence about this game, definetly buy it and don't rent it because I definetly see replay value in the game.

I absolutely hated this game. I had received in gamefly, played up to the third level. And found it tedious, just another hack and slash with very lame combos, and a bunch of un needed backtracking making it no fun!! I don't see how you could possibly like it. I am very open to a lot of games and usually never dislike a game with such distaste. Fortunately Ninja Gaiden 2 is coming out this year and will hopefully be better. I just cant stand pressing the Y button a bunch of times. Oh yah and playing the same bosses over and over!

DMC2 ranked 2nd and also DmC ranked 3rd?
What a load of BS!

ABizzel1365d ago

IMO

6. DMC2 6/10
5. DMC4 7.5/10 (Hated Nero, repeat bosses, Dante was the saving grace but only about half the game)
4. DmC 7.5/10 (solid overall, some great ideas, meh story, dialog sucked, and the director almost killed DMC)
3. DMC1 8.5/10 (all around solid)
2. DMC5 9/10 (carried by Dante & Nero gameplay, I didn’t like V’s, Nero’s better but still not a fan)
1. DCM3 10/10 (chef’s kiss)

Well, it worked.

This nothingburger of a opinion article got a lot of views and comments.

Pyrofire95365d ago

WHAT!? who in their right mind would put 2 near the top (not at the bottom) unironically?
I think all of them are worth playing in their own right honestly, except 2 unless you REALLY want to experience the whole series.

FinalFantasyFanatic364d ago (Edited 364d ago )

I honestly don't know what the author was smoking, personally I'd rank DMC3 as no.1, maybe DMC5 as second, DMC1 as third, DMC4 as fourth, and DMC as fifth and DMC2 last. such a bizarre list, mybe the author just has strange taste.

DMC2 anywhere but last is crazy. Awful list overall.

BlaqMagiq1365d ago

"Devil May Cry 2 isn’t trash. It’s just misunderstood by a fanbase that doesn’t like change."

This and putting DMC 2 number 2 is all I need to ignore this ranking. DMC2 is absolute trash and it's clear this person doesn't understand exactly why.

Flenter365d ago

For me: 3,1,5,4,2 and then .....Dmc

fsfsxii365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

Why is DmC last? Genuinely curious.

lellkay365d ago (Edited 365d ago )

Dmc is far superior to DMC2 come on

Devil May Cry 4 - 15 Years of Nero

Devil May Cry 4 launched 15 years ago today, bringing with it new character Nero. Has it stood the test of time?

Knushwood Butt1163d ago

Never liked it and I think I got it day 1.

Cheap Capcom design of half a game that you have to walk through twice.

5 isn't much different in that department. Encounter the same boss three times with three different characters? Endless warehouses or alien-like tunnels that all look the same.

chrisx1163d ago

In DMC 5, it's 4 times you encounter the same bosses if you count the Vergil dlc lol

Knushwood Butt1163d ago

Yeah, I'm only up to chapter 19 so the total count can only go up!

kevco331163d ago

No troll, I always preferred DMC.

No haters, please.

Knushwood Butt1163d ago

I'm actually with you there, but DMC has that terrible writing. Alex Garland isn't it?

FallenAngel19841163d ago

Nero will always stand the rest of time against Donte and Viola

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds1272d ago (Edited 1272d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno1272d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya1272d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

Hellcat20201272d ago

Ahh the memories of playing Heavenly Sword
Such a amazing experience

LoveSpuds1272d ago

Yup, I remember being blown away with Heavenly Sword. I remember holding out hope that they would go back and add trophy support as a incentive to go back and replay the game, but I don't think they ever did?

Yui_Suzumiya1272d ago

I couldn't beat the final boss though! Spent several days trying but eventually gave up, lol. Still enjoyed it though.

refocusedman1272d ago

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

YoungKingDoran1272d ago

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. I still think it does another of things well; story, presentation, level varietily and art style at least. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
