First off you don’t get to play as the snake, so if you want to buy the game only for the snake, don’t. You play as a tarantula and armoured scorpion. If you have any fears of spiders, scorpions, snakes or other small dangerous creatures, then face your fears or run and hide.
Story Line
You start off feeling like a baby tarantula but you are fully grown. You slowly learn your moves and abilities throughout the story. There is this hidden feeling that you know your surroundings but at the same time you are discovering new areas. You switch between spider and scorpion on each chapter through the game. The spider and scorpion do meet, and you also see yourself playing over timelines as both creatures. You are moving around an area where two men are digging for something. Voices are done by Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hopper.
You are not in a sand box area and most of the time there is only one path, but the path to finishing the chapter is not simple and clear cut. You find yourself going back to an area again and again thinking: ‘Did I miss something?’…yes… Collectable grubs are hidden most of the time, but sometimes used to guide you in your path to finishing the chapter
The life you lead as a spider or scorpion in this story is amazing. The natural movement of the creature has been mimicked in the game which makes playing this creature very life like. If any spider and / or scorpion make it all the way through the story line without dying they have 12/10 on their luck skill.
Graphics
A lot of effort was put into the look and feel of the game. Cinematic finishing moves make you feel like you are controlling a real scorpion. The stealth and movement of the tarantula are perfectly displayed to see the fangs sink into your prey and make you believe you did, just that.
Sound
There is no music, only random desert sounds to fill your journey with atmosphere. Sounds effects from the creatures were not recorded but rather pushed harder to sound more like an action movie, this makes your fighting even more attractive.
Gameplay
You can take your hat off at the decision to make this an exclusive Wii title. They made the game and the controls to fit you, the gamer whether “getting” into the shell of the scorpion or exo-skeleton of the tarantula. Not just push buttons to attack with a standard controller, but use the Wii remote to lash out and stick your opponent with your stinger. (Use the IR pointer to aim and pounce on your prey or shoot them with a web)
The tarantula is the ninja of the game, very stealthy and secretive, crawling on walls and ceilings to approach its prey. It’s not going to rush up and attack head on, it’s going to pounce and shoot at its prey and then rush up and sink its fangs in. Most of your attacks are done with the Wii remote and movements with the analogue stick on the nunchuk. Combos are done with both and a range of buttons.
The scorpion is more of a brawler. He gets right into the fight and uses his force to take on an enemy. He has armour, pinchers, and his stinger; with these and combination attacks it adds up to a dangerous set of weapons. He is the tank of the game and has the power and strength to match. The scorpion uses a combination of buttons and motions to attack, most motion attacks are his power attacks.
One of the scorpion’s attacks had me doing something on the Wii remote I have never done before. You invert the Wii remote and the scorpion burrows underground, like a real scorpion. Then when an enemy is above you, you flick the remote up to strike at the enemy from under the ground! Awesome!
Final Conclusion
I don’t see anyone playing the game more than twice because once you have finished the story, you’ll only go back to collect the things that you forgot. This confirms that you will be resetting the stage when you go back, but all the grubs you have collected stay collected.
All these functions and additions to a Wii game are setting a new standard for an elite Wii title. This is truly a Wii game and not some copy from another title or a casual title. Specifically designed for the Wii and using the strengths that the console has to offer. It is a unique title and gives you a rich satisfying game-play.

Beneath all the Smash and shovelware, the Wii really did have quite a few gems.
Not a bad list.. I would add Excitebots, Kororinpa 1 & 2, Bit.Trip series, Geometry Wars: galaxies

In an enlightening interview with Laser Lemming Nordic Game's Martin Kreuch reveals the swedish publisher's plans for their recent haul of THQ ips, including Darksiders.
How about no Darksiders at all? I never understood how people could play this game from start to finish, both belong to the worst games I played in the last 10 years.
Oh maaan, please continue the story of darksiders series.
Also if you do manage to get older developers, i hope you guys remove the rpg-ish element. <_<
The game was much better without it.

Game Informer - One of the most unique Wii titles revolved around a spider, a scorpion, and actors Billy Bob Thornton and the late Dennis Hopper. THQ released Deadly Creatures in 2009 to little fanfare, but many that played it were charmed by its quirkiness. This week, we see if that charm holds up.
