You’re the Agent. You are capable of upgrading your abilities, be it strength, agility, weapons, explosive, or driving skills. You are a superhuman created by The Agency to help the peacekeepers gain and maintain peace in Pacific City. Your goal in Crackdown is to eliminate three different gangs from the city: Los Muertos, Volk, and Shai-Gen. This is done through the killings of all Generals and the King Pin of each gang. A variety of weapons, explosives and vehicles are available for use on your mission and self upgrades will aid you along the way.
Crackdown was developed by Realtime Worlds and created by Grand Theft Auto originator David Jones. Like its sister game GTA, Crackdown is an open world, sandbox style game.
Criticized early on in development for its ‘cartoony’ art style, Crackdown really came into its own upon release. Glossy surfaces and bright colours really bring Pacific City alive. A realistic portrayal of a city, along with impossibly high skyscrapers, make this game a virtual architectural masterpiece. Also, each of PC’s thousands of residents are unique in their own, finding a similar character is a rarity.
So you’ve saved Pacific City, what next?
Why not try the some online Co-operative play. You and a friend can choose to each save PC together, or you can compete against each other by racing along the city’s many highways, or seeing who can be the first to reach the top of Pacific City’s many tall buildings.
Within a few months of release Crackdown was treated to some DLC:
Free-for-all Pack (Free) - gave players the Keys to the City, as this feature was added to the main menu. You could now control things such as time of day and you could spawn vehicles at your feet.
Getting’ Busy Pack (800 MS Points) – for the Crackdown diehards, this pack included a huge variety of new weapons, gametypes, and vehicles, along with a new Street Racing option. This pack also included new achievements worth a total of 250 points which brought the games total to 1250.
And finally, there’s only one other game that can rival Crackdown’s achievement list in terms of enjoyment. Some achievements included jumping off the city’s tallest building (getting up there was the hardest part) and doing two flips with a car. I had a blast getting the achievements in Crackdown, and the DLC achievements added even more to the fun. I’m not sure if I loved or was disgusted by one achievement: using the Harpoon to attach bodies to cars, and proceed to drive that car with bodies flopping around on both sides.
In the end this is one of my favourite games for the Xbox 360 and but was unfortunately overshadowed by the Halo 3 beta. I was really disappointed when it was announce that there would be no sequel to this game, but 360 owners who didn’t participate in the beta probably don’t have this game, so I strongly urge you to give this one a shot.

Darren writes: "Despite much moaning and groaning, Xbox has had some smashing console exclusive games during its four generation lifespan. Crackdown was one such game, released in the early years of the Xbox 360"
Still one of my all time favorite games. It hurt to see what happened to Crackdown 3 😔

Gamerheadquarters; "With the jump in power from the Xbox Series X all Xbox 360 and Original Xbox titles that are backwards compatible should be enhanced as soon as they’re available."
They’ve been working the past few years and have become proficient in that department so I definitely think they are capable of such a feat. Their BC through emulation that can natively upscale blows my mind and gives them an advantage over competitors using multiple hardware settings which requires higher clock speeds and produces more heat.
I caught Chaos Theory on sale and was actually blown away by how it scaled on the One X.
I imagine that they'll carry over the functionality of the X regarding playing previous gen games to the series X.
They better have good support for backwards compatibly.... Since they have no 1st pay games LMAO 😂
And xbox one games, there are many underperformed 3rd party games that needs frames boost.
