The story is decent enough for a spy movie and offers enough twists and turns to keep you

alpha protocol published by sega and developped by obsidian is a self titled spy rpg, it blends elements from spy games and RPG games.
the spy elements are woven into this game with the implementation of stealth and story. The story is decent enough for a spy movie and offers enough twists and turns to keep your attention. The stealth elements are good though you might find some abilities that you develop are a bit over the top and unrealistic, they still work and make for some fun sneaking around. However if you so choose you could totally forego stealth and play through the games guns blazing or fists pumping you would however face the consequences and the story would unfold differrently. Which brings me to the RPG element of the game, the dialog is interspersed with multiple choice answers which affect the the story and your reputation with other characters. the reputation system will allow you to interact with those characters on a professional level for example an ally you have made might offer you some information for a mission you are about to do, for a price, which could help you.
The character evolves his abilities by completing objectives during missions, some are compulsory, some are optionnal and you will acquire different amounts of experience for accomplishing it differently.
the game is centered around a hub from which you choose your destination(missions) which act like levels.
the graphics while decent, are nothing to write home about and i experienced some framerate drops during certain parts.
The loading times are very short but very frequent and will occur during the game, in the middle of a level.
The sounds are convincing however the voice acting is very good and very diverse as well as the soundtrack.
The controls are fairly intuitive however the aiming might take a little bit taking used to after the tutorials.

Overall a fun game which lasted me about 14 hours on my first playthrough. This game had a bold premise and i'm confident in saying that it succeeded.

may rent this from gamefly I need a descent WRPG to play for a bit

are the graphics really that bad

DanyBrown5724d ago

they don't take anything away from the experience but at the same time they don't add anything to it either

got this game the other day. It's good, the graphics aren't that great the story and the voice acting i think are pretty good. An 8 out of 10 is spot on in this case.

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend705d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long706d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons706d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor706d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52705d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602705d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor706d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B705d ago (Edited 705d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.

Kevin F. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "Many of the best Xbox 360 games are playable on the Xbox One and Series X|S consoles. Some even with some enhanced visuals and performance. Unfortunately, not every game from the Xbox 360 library has received this glorious feat of being able to be played on more modern Microsoft consoles."

Max Payne 3 needs to be on that list.

The Spider-man games will never happen. The xbox 360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games have a better chance of happening than Spider-man titles but won't happen. The Xbox One Ultimate Alliance games delisted years ago

Vits1674d ago

Yeah... you can totally forget about those entries that got delisted because of licensing issues. Those are not happening.

Wait everything isn’t BC? You guys act like it is lol

porkChop1674d ago

Almost all of the games people want to play are BC, and that's a hell of a lot better than having none available.

ApocalypseShadow1674d ago (Edited 1674d ago )

Almost all the games people want to play? Not true. Majority picks screw over the minority who have games collecting dust. Metal is right. Fans make it seem that it's all. 39/997 games from OG Xbox is NOT all. 568/2154 from 360 is NOT all. But you guys play it up like it is.

And from my count, there are 4,000+ PS4 BC games on PS5 that I see. And almost every VR game. Series X has no Kinect games or Kinect 2. But you played that up too. No more dancing.

As for the article, some of the BC games make sense. The others with Spider-Man aren't happening.
